Solar plate heat exchanger

Harnessing the solar energy is no longer considered a mammoth task with huge installations at skyrocketing prices. The use of solar energy has helped in reducing unnecessary expenses and since they are affordable and easy to install there are more people who are turning to this clean and renewable source of energy for their daily needs.

The solar plate heat exchanger is used for heating swimming pools along with the solar panels. These units are designed in such a manner that it reduces the temperature of the water caused due to solar heating unlike the high temperatures due to traditional methods of heating. The solar plate heat exchanger is made up of cupro-nickel tubes that facilitate its use in chlorine water, spas, and therapeutic pools and also in seawater.

The role of solar plate heat exchanger in solar heat pumps
Generally when the question of heating water with the help of solar energy arises then the solar panels and collectors are included in the discussion. However there is another method of heating water by using the sun’s energy without the solar panels. This is possible with a solar heat pump. The solar heat pumps are great energy savers and cost efficient too.

The solar heat pump transfers the heat outside the unit into the heater which has water stored through the use of the solar plate heat exchanger. The solar heat pumps are known to work very well in cold conditions and can heat water even during wintry nights. The process that is used draws in the external air into the system of the solar heat pump with the help of a fan in an evaporator that contains a specific refrigerant in piping.

The refrigerant does not have any adverse effects on the atmosphere. The air drawn into the system is warmer than the refrigerant and thus turns it from its liquid state to a gaseous form inside the piping of the solar heat pump. Then a compressor is used to pump the refrigerant which is in a gaseous form through a small valve which results in generation of great amounts of heat.

Then the solar plate heat exchanger is used to transfer this heat from the gas pipes where the refrigerant is heated to a water storage tank. By this time the temperature of the refrigerant is reduced and it returns to its liquid state due to the withdrawal of heat and the cycle is repeated again.

The solar heat pump which uses the solar plate heat exchange system to heat water is a great way to cut down your expenses which will add to your savings. The amount of energy generated using this system is three to five times more than the use of electricity required for powering the unit. The solar heat pump is eco-friendly because there is no emission of toxic gases which pollutes the environment.

The solar heat pump works very well in low temperatures also. However in extremely cold climates an additional electrical device is required to maintain the temperature of the water. There is no requirement of any solar panels nor is there any need to block the roof. It is very easy to install the solar heat pump as it uses the same connections used by the electric heating water system.

If you want to invest in a solar heat pump which uses the solar plate heat exchanger you may have to pay a high price but the price of the system varies depending on your location and requirements. There are many government rebates that help to reduce the cost. It is also advisable to consult a solar heat pump expert on the right type of equipment that you may need and the availability of any incentives to help reduce your cost.
